Yes, I know pickles are not exactly baking but who could resist posting a picture of homemade pickles?!?!?! If you like Claussen pickles then these babies will be right up your alley! Another bonus is that making them yourself saves you money. When you have a family that loves pickles as much as my crew does then this recipe is a must!
Recipe
2 cups white vinegar
2 cups water
2 tablespoons pickling salt
1 garlic clove per can
1/2 tsp ground pepper or 5 peppercorns
2 tbsp. fresh dill, chopped
3-4 medium cucumbers
Boil water and vinegar with salt until salt is dissolved. Slice your cucumbers to whatever size you like and place them into canning jars. Make sure your jars are very clean before you start your pickles. Add your garlic, dill, and pepper to your cans and place the sliced pickles on top. Top each jar off with your liquid and place the lid on. I give each jar a shake and place in the fridge for 48 hrs. After 2 days test one and if they are to your liking then go for it, if not give it another day. Enjoy!
